Technical SEO lays a solid foundation that gives your content the best chance to rank for relevant keywords and phrases. In an SEO scenario, Google likes to trust sites that have links from high quality, relevant sources. For example, large news websites don’t generally link to an untrusted source, nor do top quality industry blogs or university or .edu websites. Always research before you buy any SEO software because the search engine Algorithms are constantly changing thereby improving their search technologies to provide the most relevant results for their users. SEO tools for Google, MSN and Yahoo are numerous. If someone hits their back button immediately after landing on a page, it tells Google in black-and-white: this is low quality page. That’s why Google uses “dwell time” to size up your content’s quality.
Segmenting Your Site’s Audience
Keyword research helps you identify keywords that appeal to a target audience and expand the reach of your content. When you use keyword research tools, it helps you identitfy what kinds of content users are looking for on any given topic. Always make sure to prioritize time for keyword research. Having links from
more popular websites carry more weight than less popular sites. You don't need to write at a doctorate level to rank at the top of Google. You simply need to write at a higher reading level than normal. Ensure that your site is set to load at either www.domainname.co.uk or domainname.co.uk – not both. There is a technical difference between the two, but for most people it shouldn’t matter either way as far as you stick with your preference and redirect the non-preferred to your preferred one.
Reporting and analytics
How the pages on your site are organized and structured affects your search engine rankings. It also affects your it’s user experience (UX). Basically, you want to make it easy for actual visitors and search engines to find stuff in your store. Avoid thin, insubstantial
content, duplicate content and of course spammy-looking keyword stuffing techniques. Voice search is picking up steam. You can now use your voice to search the web, play music, navigate home, order sushi or get the latest football results. If you only do a little SEO once in a while, then you need to adjust your expectations on how much organic traffic you can expect from search engines. Websites that are constantly improving their code, publishing valuable content, and earning backlinks and social share activity are building a larger arsenal than sites that are not engaging in SEO.
Pages are designed so that search algorithms can parse them
Basically a search engine searches the web using automated programs called web crawlers. The crawlers follow links from page to page, they then send a copy of each page back to the search engine, which then builds an index of the words on each page. Backlinks are the foundation of Google's algorithm for determining a site’s page rank. Ranking factors play a huge role in SEO and the overall digital marketing strategy of a website. According to
SEO Consultant, Gaz Hall: "When optimizing for conversion, it is critical to gain some perspective into the psychographics of your target audience, and also understand the most common segments of search intent. "
Carve out time for updating and improving older SEO content
As touched upon before - backlinks are simply links from other websites directing viewers to your site. Search engines love these. If your niche
is very competitive, you probably shouldn’t go after the most competitive head terms. It will be really hard to rank for those. Google now supports using the rel=“canonical” link element across different
domains. This means that you can have similar content on both the .com
and .co.uk extensions of your site, and use the canonical link element to
indicate the exact URL of the domain preferred for indexing. This will make
duplicate content a non-issue. Also, keep in mind that this is not required
when using different languages. Google does not consider foreign-language
translations to be duplicate content. But it is something to consider for
multiple locale sites in the same language. If your content fails to provide your users with any added value or to engross them, it will not help to
acquire leads and/or customers. It is impossible to predict how people will search for content and which
keywords they will use to do so. So, it is advisable to create content that can fully satisfy the users’ needs.
It is not just about the quantity (huge amounts of text); it’s more about the relevance of the content to
potential searches.
