When you delete a page (or post) from your site, you delete one or more URLs too. That old URL, when visited, will usually return a 404 not found error. But is that what you wanted? Maybe that page should be redirected somewhere. Meta tags are pieces of HTML code that can be added to the
section of your web pages. Beyond the page title, the two most popular Meta tags are Meta Description tag and Meta Keyword There are some conflicting views about whether or not to use Meta tags and whether they actually help your search engine positioning. Regardless of whether or not it helps with your search engine positioning, you should use the Meta Description tag because this is what frequently appears below your website URL in the search engine results pages (SERPS). On-page content is a critical component of on-page
SEO. Content is what the search engine crawlers
need to associate your page with a set of keywords
and/or key phrases. Without it, crawlers are left in the
dark as to what your page is about. Search engines don’t like familiar or generic content.
SEO demands onsite technical optimization. Content marketing needs great UX.
As a rule of thumb, the easier you acquire a link, the less value it will likely have. You have to think outside of the box (link building is not just guest posting). Some directories cost
money in order to be accepted into their listings. Once again, while some of these can pass legitimate value, others pass little and aren't worth your time or money. SEO is alive and well, and its just as powerful as it ever was. Avoid elements that annoy visitors. You might think that a cool pop-up will make people sign up for your great e-book, but that popup might just as easily make them surf away from your site altogether. Keep in mind, when a searcher goes to your site, then quickly clicks the back button and chooses another result; Google and Bing are not looking kindly at you.
Offer a post-specific resource
There’s a difference between desktop SEO and mobile SEO, but the goals are often comparable. You want to reach your audience and turn them into customers. In some ways, desktop SEO tactics also work for mobile SEO, but in a slightly different form. In order to
improve rankings for long-tail keywords, make sure that they’re present in your main body copy and page titles. If your website structure doesn’t allow for this, attach a blog or news feed to your site and create content around these topics, with the long-tail keywords in the titles and copy. The direction that you take to improve the visibility of your site on the web should be decided upon by analysing the current state of your website, the audience you are targeting, your business objectives and any previous SEO work that has been carried out. Most tools you use to build websites make it super easy to add important image tags, like alt tags. Both search engines
and humans (those who look at a web page’s code) can read the information in image tags. It’s just one more way to include relevant info on your website.
Businesses rely on their websites so it’s vital to get SEO right
Brand mentions and co-citations are also very important to Google, in determining the quality and usefulness of a particular web page. Think of a sitemap as a list of files that give hints to the search engines on how they can crawl your website. Sitemaps help search engines find and classify content on your site that they may not have found on their own. Review sites should also be considered in link building campaigns. These are the sites where your customers write about their experience with your products/services. We asked an
SEO Specialist, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "The authority of the domain is important and it needs to be addressed in any walkthrough of SEO."
Broken Internal and External Links
Successful sites load fast. Even a small delay can have an impact on visitor numbers, ad views and conversions. I would pursue
the more relevant linking opportunity because the domain still likely has some authority and by having relevancy, you increase the chance of driving targeted traffic to your site. Because Google likes sites that link out to good quality content, publishing your own curated content can be a very smart move. Contextual link building -- links that are surrounded by text in the body of content -- have a higher SEO value than links that appear in the footer or sidebar.
