Keywords should be relevant. This means your site should be a satisfactory destination for users. The main heading of your page tells visitors, including search engines, what the page is about. Heading tags let us mark up what is a heading or sub-heading on the page, and we can use the h1 tag to show the primary header. Most CMSs do this automatically. Just like they have for on-page SEO, technical aspects of SEO have changed as search engines have become more sophisticated. Sitelinks have the benefit of distributing organic search traffic that would normally be concentrated on your homepage across other areas of your site.

Web 2.0’s and Google Stacks

Now's the time for any local business to raise its game. Quality means not something rammed with keywords which isn’t actually very useful or easy to read. Good quality content is something useful, or interesting to the readers. You want it to be well written, broken up with subheadings and images to make it easier to read. I spent years and years focusing on doing nothing but building backlinks. The social hit and I had to change my focus. Now links are back as number #1 again, but honestly, did they ever really stop being the top factor? If a search engine makes a page request that isn’t served within the bot’s time limit (or that produces a server timeout response), your pages may not make it into the index at all, and will almost certainly rank very poorly (as no indexable text content has been found).

Make a concerted effort to keep up with content analysis

The size of your images can have a big impact on your overall site speed (which is an important search ranking factor). Social media platforms have all but taken over, and when it comes to SEO, they are a huge part of the strategy for any campaign. An SEO writer must take the time to understand who your audience is, what is important to them, and what content would be useful and meaningful to them. If you conduct business online, you need to use website analytics to track how well your site is doing. Otherwise, you’re essentially running your business blind and will have no insight into your site’s effectiveness.

Quick Wins

When we’re creating content, if we don’t understand what the purpose is, then that’s when we really get confused about what is good and what is just good enough. At the heart of it, keyword clustering is what it sounds like: you are taking relevant keywords and clustering them together into groups. If you want to simply attract users, focus more on SEO tactics that drive visitors to your site. If you want higher conversion rates once visitors get to your site, content marketing is more important. Gaz Hall, from SEO Hull, had the following to say: "Search engine algorithms will continue to become more sophisticated."

Wait. Is it really that simple?

If you’re a bit familiar with the ways of SEO, you’ll be aware that duplicate content is a problem that can happen to anyone and could seriously harm your rankings. But in some cases, it’s difficult to know where you stand. SEO is all about getting more search visibility, yet there's no way I (or anyone else) can guarantee you a certain ranking or position for any specific keyword. There are too many variables at play, even with keyword and competitive research in hand. On the web, sole traders can in theory compete with the corporate big boys, so being able to be found – and found easily – among those searches is essential for any firm Google is better at working out what a page is about, and what it should be about to satisfy the intent of a searcher.
